8/31 Your child should have a copy of the class syllabus. It needs to be signed & returned to me. If you have not received a copy click here or I will give your child a copy upon request.

9/5 It's test week! Study your guitar anatomy & fretboard maps. Don't forget:

9/22 We have started learning how to read guitar tabs. It's a simple system of matching strings & frets to play songs. 

9/26 This week students will be given the name on person who influenced the world of guitar to report on. This project will be graded & is due 10/17. Click for more info.

10/18 The kids watched a video on guitar tab basics, the symbols used & their meanings. They will be tested on this.

11/1 Thank you to all the students that handed in their projects. They were great!
 

11/7 The kids have a test on TAB next week. We've already went over all the questions and answers for the test. I should see all "A"s on this one!

12/15 When we get back from Winter Break we will learn how to write a song!

 Cont... Updates and Agenda 

1/10 In the 2nd semester we are learning about songwriting.  First question is "What is a song?"

2/27 This week the kids wrote their own rap song inspired by a photo. Very creative ideas.

3/17 We now understand the three perspectives and how to identify them as well as use them in our own writing.

4/03 We have a week off for Spring Break and need to work extra hard during the days we are in school.

5/10 As a final project the 5th grade students are writing a goodbye song. This is a reflection of their time at NMAPA.
